Digital Audio Creation and Preservation Bootcamp with Krista White

In this 2 hour workshop for absolute beginners, RU-N Digital Humanities Librarian, Krista White, will teach participants technical concepts in digital audio creation and preservation. Participants will learn how digital audio is recorded and then use this knowledge to learn to evaluate software for digital audio recording. They will also learn to incorporate this technical knowledge in the creation of their oral history projects with an eye to long term preservation.
Participants will learn:
Vocabulary to describe digital audio files and their component parts
Vocabulary to describe digital preservation concepts and techniques
How to evaluate software and equipment to record digital audio using workshop vocabulary and concepts
How to plan the ability to organize, search, and preserve the oral history recordings they create using workshop vocabulary and concepts
