We will be hosting four individual workshops: (1) on introductory oral history methods and practice; (2) on creating oral history recordings for long-term preservation; (3) on trauma informed interviewing; and (4) on putting oral history in action.

Sankofa: A Promise Unkept and Conversation of Renewal, Justice, and Revitalization

On Monday, October 11 from 6-9PM at ArtFront Galleries, Newark Pride Alliance and Circle of Friends will be hosting a coming out day event, "SANKOFA: A Promise Unkept and Conversation of Renewal, Justice, and Revitalization." This special coming out day event will include a panel discussion moderated by Cheryl Clarke, performances by Empress Vizcaya, Travis Love, Daryl Stewart, and the presentation of student awards. Free and open to all.

Story Slam

Newark Pride, Inc. invites you to join us for our first Story Slam to be hosted on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Newark Public Library from 5:30-7:30 PM. This year's theme is "Creative Resilience" and we're ready to hear you tell your story. Each participant will have up to 5 minutes to share their pieces and at the end the best storyteller will receive a prize. This is a free event being held during the annual Newark Arts Festival.
