Queer Newark Pride Walking Tour

Departing from Military Park, in area between the Kennedy bust and cannons. The QNOHP tour will highlight the rich and illuminating experiences of the city's LGBTQ and gender-nonconforming communities. Featuring both historical landmarks and contemporary sites, tour leaders will share stories about key events, significant happenings, and interesting personalities that showcase the resilience of an often-invisible population of Newarkers.

Digital Audio Creation and Preservation Bootcamp with Krista White

In this 2 hour workshop for absolute beginners, RU-N Digital Humanities Librarian, Krista White, will teach participants technical concepts in digital audio creation and preservation. Participants will learn how digital audio is recorded and then use this knowledge to learn to evaluate software for digital audio recording. They will also learn to incorporate this technical knowledge in the creation of their oral history projects with an eye to long term preservation.

Oral History Bootcamp

The Queer Newark Oral History Bootcamp will cover key issues, such as: How does one plan an oral history project? What are some of the best practices for formulating interview questions? How does one identify a narrator? What are some of the ethical considerations that oral historians face when creating oral history projects? This will be an interactive, hands-on workshop.
The workshop is open to students, researchers, and community members. Breakfast will be provided, at no charge to participants.
